TROUBLESHOOTING CHART (Continued)
CAUSE
Restrictedair intake.
PROBLEM
CompressorOverheating (Cent)
Improperlevel and/orgrade of oil
used.
Excessive BeltWear
Reduced Air Delivery
Water inCrankcase; oil appears
milky in color.
Excessive Water in AirReceiver
Tank.
Damaged valves(intakeand/or
exhaust).
Loose belt.
Pulley misalignment.
Loose pulley.
Compressor valvesleaking,
stickingorcarboned up.
Worn rings.
Head gasket leaking.
Restrictedair intake.
Loose drivebelt.
Unit notreachingproperoperat-
ingtemperature becausethe
compressorrunsfrequently and
is oversizedfor the air require-
ment.
Humid operating conditions.
Condensation inthe air receiver.
CORRECTION
Remove and clean orreplace air
filter.
Check for proper oillevelsand
recommended oilusage.
Repairor replace as necessary.
Adjust belt tension.
Align pulley to within 1/16 inch of
the flywheel.
Check forworn key or pulley
bore. Also check for bent engine
shaft. Replace or repairas
necessary.
Tighten pulley set screw orbolt.
Replace.
Replace.
Tighten or replace gasket.
Clean orreplace.
Tighten butdon'tovertighten.
Consult withfactory or dealer.
Relocate compressoroutfit.
Change oilfrequently. Avoid
cylinderrustingand ringwear.
This is a normal resultof com-
pressing air and notdue to faulty
equipment.This conditioncanbe
correctedby drainingthe air
receiverdaily.
